Before you start migrating Winner Bizz to a Cloud-based installation, you need to check the requirements. See the following articles:
-
Complete Hardware Recommendations, essential for optimised access to the Cloud database, specifically in relation to your antivirus and firewall settings.
-
Bandwidth usage for WB Cloud database, bandwidth indicates the volume of data, typically in gigabytes, megabytes or kilobytes, that can be moved from one point to another in a given period of time, typically one second. For example, megabytes per second, typically displayed as MB/s or MBps.
- Winner Bizz Cloud base installation type, this article outlines the three possible installation modes.
Starting the cloud migration
Note! Migration requires the Cloud database 12.0 extension. For more information, contact our Support team.
In Winner Bizz, to start the migration to the Cloud, the user must be logged into the primary server as an administrator.
To begin the cloud migration:
- Go to Winner Bizz Support Tool > Database and click Start migration.
- In the Logon window, enter your login details.
Note: These are the same credentials used to log in to the Compusoft Customer Portal.
The cloud migration process
Step 1:
Users can continue working in Winner Bizz.
Migration of data, such as documents, drawings, e-mails and attachments. This step can take a few hours for larger databases.
You can start to launch the step 2 whenever you are ready.
If an error occurs, for example, disconnection, the migration can be re-launched and will continue from where it was stopped.
Step 2:
It will not be possible to work in Winner Bizz at the same time. An average of half a day should be considered for this stage. Please note that this is an estimate, actual times will vary dependent on a number of factors, such as your internet speed, the available bandwidth, the size of your database, and other factors.
The migration should be launched again from the Winner Bizz Support Tool to finalise the process.
Note: This process can be stopped and relaunched if required (for example if a disconnection occurs during the process). If the process is stopped, user can not work in Winner Bizz. The duration of the process will depend on the amount of data remaining to migrate.
After this step, it might be necessary to reinstall Winner Bizz on each workstation that needs to be independent from the server.
Note: After migrating from an SQL database to a Cloud database, Winner Bizz must be launched from the server in order to upload the Winner Design settings of the server to the Cloud database. This needs to be done whilst no one is using Winner Bizz.
Step 3:
-
If the client workstation stays linked to a server, launch Winner Bizz. You will be asked to login, please use your Compusoft Customer Portal's ID.
- If the client workstation becomes independent, uninstall Winner Bizz from the workstation (see Microsoft's help centre). Then download it from the Customer portal and install it, selecting the Cloud installation.
For more information, see Winner Bizz Download and Installation - Cloud database.
Step 4: (only for independent workstation)
After the migration, it will be necessary to reinstall catalogues. However, only the most recent catalogue versions will be available at this step.
If the user requires older versions of catalogues, it is possible to copy the catalogue database from the server. To do so, copy \compusoft\winner\db\products or, if the catalogues were managed by company, \compusoft\winner\db\companies\products.
Note: For more information, see Download and installation in production. If the CMC server needs to be changed to a new independent workstation, see Change the location of the CMC database.
